To help in the fight against identity theft, Hodges University and ABC-7 will hold free shredding days for residents wanting to destroy documents containing personal information.
Residents are invited to bring financial and legal documents, receipts, checks, tax and medical records to be shredded. On Monday, August 6th, residents in Collier County are encouraged to bring their items to the Hodges University Naples Campus, 2655 Northbrooke Drive, off of Immokalee Road. An industrial sized shredding truck will be on hand from 6am to 6:30pm.
For Lee County residents, a truck will be at Hodges University’s Ft. Myers campus on Tuesday, August 7th from 6am to 6:30pm. That campus is located at Colonial and Winkler Roads. There will be no charge for the service at either location.
According to Dr. Terry McMahan, President of Hodges University, the school is pleased to be part of this great community service. “It is no secret that identity theft impacts millions of people each year. Shredding documents, instead of simply throwing them in the garbage, is an essential tool in combating identity theft,” he said.
