IC program chair named to lead state medical assisting educators
Carlene Harrison, program chair of the medical assisting department at International College, was appointed chair of the educators forum of the Florida Society of Medical Assistants. The educators forum of the 600-member statewide organization discusses curriculum, certification and training programs established by the American Association of Medical Assistants and the state of Florida.
Harrison , a professor at International College since 1992 and program chair since May 2001, was a medical practice administrator for more than 20 years before teaching full time. She is a certified medical assistant and has a master’s of public administration degree and a bachelor’s degree in sociology, both from the University of Colorado.
Harrison is president of the Everglades Chapter of the Florida Society of Medical Assistants and a member of the Health Management Association of Lee County and the Medical Managers Association of Collier County.
