As many residents of this area have learned, preparation is crucial in coping with hurricane season. Azteca America will be presenting “One Plan, Any Disaster: How Bullet Proof is Your Business?” - a two-hour seminar sponsored by the Chamber of Hispanic Business Professionals, the Small Business Development Center and Hodges University. The event is set for Thursday, July 12th, 2007.
The workshop explains the strategies and tools for disaster planning for local business owners to reduce economic damages. Attendees will learn how to safeguard their business against hurricanes. Critical components of business continuity planning will also be discussed. Considered to be the first of its kind, the workshop will be held entirely in Spanish.
The workshop will feature many guest speakers, including:
Dan Regelski, the Director of the Small Business Development Center
Mary Helen Blakeslee, Chief Analyst at the Office of Tourism
American Red Cross
John Fisher, Regional Director, Bureau of Outreach
Jim Wall, Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board
“Events like this are extremely important to Hodges University and we are doing our part to help Hispanics attain higher education,” said Joe Turner, Public Relations Coordinator for Hodges University. “Currently, 20% of our student population is comprised of Hispanics, and that number continues to grow. If hosting this event can bring the region closer to reaching the goals of providing a support for the Hispanic community, we are eager and happy to help,” he stated.
For the convenience of Lee and Collier county residents, the workshop will be held from 10am – 12pm at the Hodges University – Ft. Myers campus (4501 Colonial Blvd.), and from 3pm – 5pm at Hodges University – Naples campus (2655 Northbrooke Drive). The workshop is free of charge, though reservations are strongly encouraged.
