The Academic Committee of Hodges University has named
Paris L. Smith the student of the month for October.
The Academic Committee consists of the program chairs and other elected faculty, chaired by the Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Jeanette Brock. Smith was nominated for recognition by Dr. Charlene Wendel, Associate Professor of Legal Studies and Coordinator of Instructional Design at Hodges.
“Paris is currently an online student in the ‘Introduction to Law’ class, and though we have moved through only the first half of this semester, her performance in the class is exemplary. She does more than is required and asks in-depth questions on discussion boards, emails and phones me, and also never hesitates to use HU instant messaging tools to stay engaged and informed. She is the type of student all professors wish they had; one that is committed to learning as much as she can to succeed in reaching her very attainable goals.”
Paris Smith has spent 13 years in corporate human resources, serving as a Regional Director of Human Resources for parts of the U.S. & Canada. She has worked on contentious employment law issues, including harassment and discrimination cases. She has also started two successful businesses and currently owns a real estate company and is a licensed Real Estate Broker. Her plans are to attend law school and hopes to become a Circuit Court Judge after passing the bar.
As student of the month, Paris Smith will receive a recognition certificate and a $100 tuition credit.
