International College and Florida State University's School of Information Studies to Host Reception, Information Session on Cooperative Master's Program July 8
A reception and information session launching a new cooperative master’s degree program will be hosted by International College and the School of Information Studies at Florida State University from 5 to 7 p.m., July 8, at the International College Naples campus.
Beginning in Fall 2004, residents of Southwest Florida can pursue a Master of Science degree in Library & Information Studies with a concentration in Information Policy & Management from Florida State University’s ALA-accredited program.
"This is a unique offering for students," said Jane B. Robbins, Dean and Professor of the School of Information Studies at Florida State University. "Southwest Florida is a growing area. This collaboration will equip people with skills focusing on information access and services for businesses. Students who complete this program will have the management ability to provide businesses with competitive intelligence."
Melody Hainsworth, International College Vice President of Information Resources and Services, believes a partnership with FSU will create new opportunities in the Southwestern region of Florida.
"This partnership will offer the growing information technology firms in this region with highly-trained potential employees," Hainsworth said.
The reception is open to anyone interested in the cooperative program or other School of Information Studies’ program. Inquiries are encouraged. The public will have the opportunity to meet with the Dean, professors, and academic advisors. International College’s Naples campus is located at 2655 Northbrooke Drive.
