Hodges University's WITH US (Women in Technology, Hodges University Students) technology group announced today that it has been chosen to receive the National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT) Student Seed Fund, sponsored by Symantec. Hodges University is one of only ten institutions nationally to receive the gift.
NCWIT is a non-profit community of more than 450 prominent corporations, academic institutions, government agencies, and non-profits working to increase women's participation in technology and computing. NCWIT helps organizations recruit, retain, and advance women from K-12 and higher education through industry and entrepreneurial careers by providing community, evidence, and action.
Symantec is a computer security, backup and availability solutions software corporation headquartered in Mountain View, CA.
With the gift, WITH US will present the "Bits & Bytes" lunch and learn program, which will include industrial leader keynote presentations and a programming workshop to introduce programming to moms and children. For more information on the event, please contact the Fisher School of Technology at (239) 938-7779.
The NCWIT Student Seed Fund is an award given to student-run programs and initiatives that promote increased participation of women in computing and IT programs. The award is available to student organizations residing in an institution that is a US university and a member of the NCWIT Academic Alliance. The award is given to organizations whose initiatives align with NCWIT's mission by proposing activities, events, or other programs that will recruit, retain, and support women in technology- and computing-related majors.
