College Honors Nemecek with 2006 Founders' Award
International College is recognizing Tammie Nemecek, president of the Collier County Economic Development Council, with the 2006 Founders Award, an honor annually conferred upon an International College graduate who has provided outstanding and distinguished service to Collier and Lee Counties.
The Founders Award will be presented during the 10th Annual Humanitarian of the Year Ceremony (honoring Michael Watkins and Ellin Goetz) on February 23, 2006, at the Ritz Carlton Beach Resort.
A resident of Naples since 1973, Nemecek graduated from International College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management.
Prior to assuming the leadership role with The EDC, Nemecek was Administrator of the Fifth Avenue South Business Association.
Her leadership proved especially vital during this phase; a period when much of Naples main street was redeveloped. Involved with The EDC since 1994, Nemecek has served in capacities ranging from membership, operations and research to business retention and recruitment, and also as industry specialist for the biomedical & information technology industries. During her tenure with The EDC, the not-for-profit corporation has assisted businesses in the creation and retention of more than 3,000 jobs with direct economic impact totals of more than $200 million.
Beyond her immediate professional duties, Nemecek also fulfills responsibilities through roles with the Economic Development Foundation, the Florida Economic Development Council, the Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board, the Gulf Coast Venture Forum and the Southwest Florida Regional Development Corporation.
In addition to being recognized as one of International College’s most outstanding graduates, Nemecek has been formerly honored by organizations that include the American Business Women’s Association, and within business journals such as Gulfshore Business and Florida Trend.
Tickets to the Humanitarian of the Year and Founders Award presentation luncheon are $125 each. To reserve a seat, contact International College Department of Institutional Advancement at (239) 598-6159.
