The Academic Committee of Hodges University has named Travis Marchand the student of the month for May. Travis is studying for a Bachelor of Science in Management degree and hopes to graduate in the fall of 2015.
Travis is a veteran of the United States Navy, serving for seven years in the Aviation Maintenance field, including two consecutive enlistments in Washington, D.C. After separating from the Navy, he and his wife moved to Fort Myers where Travis has family. He began a sales career in the residential mortgage industry and has maintained a career in sales since, except for a short three-year tour as a stay at home father to his two boys.
Travis spends his spare time either at the pool or on the beach. He is an avid swimmer and fisherman and enjoys many outdoor activities. Travis is also a member of the Hodges University American Legion Post 397 and The Estero Chamber of Commerce.
Travis says that his favorite class at HU has been Intro to Business with Professor Karastamatis. “I am a huge fan of his “real-world” teaching style and the relevance of his teachings,” said Travis. “I would also like to mention that Professor Racz and Professor Cooney have been great professors and wonderful inspirations to my personal and professional life as well.”
As the student of the month, Travis will receive a formal letter with the nomination comments for his portfolio and files, a certificate and a $100 tuition credit.
