Gates and Stilwell Appointed to IC Board of Trustees
Two of our region’s leading business professionals have been appointed as new members of International College’s Board of Trustees.
Todd Gates, principal of the award-winning commercial development company Gates-McVey, and Sandy Stilwell, a hotelier and restaurateur with more than seven businesses operating from Captiva and Fort Myers, will now fulfill roles on the Board which is involved in establishing college policy.
With the addition of Gates and Stilwell, International College’s Board of Trustees is now comprised of 13 members.
A native of Virginia, Todd Gates began visiting Florida in 1969. After becoming a permanent resident in 1984, he became involved in the project management of facilities that include the Ritz Carlton Hotel, The Registry Resort and the Naples Philharmonic Center for the Arts.
As one of the community’s most engaged business leaders, Todd is past president of the Collier Building Industry Association and past chairman of the Christian Chamber of Southwest Florida. He has been honored as Builder of the Year and recognized by Gulfshore Life as a Man of the Year.
Beyond International College’s Board of Trustees, Todd additionally serves as Chairman of the Economic Development Council and as Board Member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
New Trustee Member Sandy Stilwell is the owner of several popular eateries which include Keylime Bistro, Sunshine Café, RC Otter’s IsIand Eats and Latte Da Coffee Shop. Other business ventures include the Celebration Center of Captiva and Paradise Shopping Center.
Also very active in the community, Stilwell has formerly served as president of the Ronald McDonald House and vice-president of the Uncommon Friends Foundation. Ardent in her support of educational initiatives, Stillwell has served on the District Advisory Council of the Lee County School Board and has also assisted in selecting recipients for the Golden Apple Teacher Award.
Beyond her new role on International College’s Board of Trustees, Stilwell is currently Chairperson of the Board of the Salvation Army of Lee County, Vice-President of the Florida Repertory Theatre, and a Board Member for organizations that include the Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce and Sanibel-Captiva Chamber of Commerce.
