Jeopardy! Brain Bus Comes to Fort Myers For Contestant Search -- NBC2 and International College to Host Try-Outs at the College's Fort Myers Campus
Jeopardy! Brain bus will roll into International College’s Fort Myers Campus, 8695 College Parkway. As part of the visit, the Jeopardy! Clue Crew will hold contestant try-outs from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for television’s #1 rated quiz show.
NBC2 and Jeopardy! will pre-test up to 1,000 people at International College in Fort Myers. The 50-question video test will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis. Auditions for Jeopardy! are open to anyone age 18 years or older and will take approximately two hours. Up to 80 people who pass the test will be invited the following day to a special audition, held at a secret location, for the final step in the testing phase.
Those who successfully complete the two-part testing process will then be eligible to appear as contestants on Jeopardy! in Los Angeles and may be called to the show anytime during the next year. The last time NBC2 held game show try-outs, 45 local residents qualified to appear on Wheel of Fortune.
For people who do not wish to try out for Jeopardy but are looking for something fun, there also will be games, cool prizes and giveaways. NBC2 news personalities Craig Wolf, Kellie Burns and Jim Syoen will be on hand at International College and will hold a live broadcast from the event.
International College President Terry McMahan said he is pleased to partner with NBC2 to bring a game show with academic integrity to Southwest Florida.
“This endeavor affirms our commitment to community spirit and lifelong learning,” McMahan said.
During the week of May 13 to 17, NBC2 held a Jeopardy! Brain Buster contest. There was a winner for each day. Those five people won Jeopardy gift packs and a place in the front of the line for Brain Bus try-outs on May 29. They also automatically qualified for the Grand Prize drawing for a trip for two to Los Angeles to see Jeopardy! with Alex Trebek. The Grand Prize will be awarded at International College on May 29 during the local Jeopardy! try-outs.
Jeopardy!, the longest running game show on television, was created by Merv Griffin and has been honored with 19 Daytime Emmy Awards.
Alex Trebek has hosted the show, now its 19th season, since 1984. According to Scarborough research, over 75,000 Southwest Florida adults tune in to Jeopardy! each evening; nearly one out of every five SWFL adults watches Jeopardy! sometime during the week.
