Hispanic Institute presents a ‘Viva Florida 500’ special lecture event

The Hispanic Institute at Hodges University will present a free lecture on the early Spanish settlers in the state of Florida. The lecture, entitled “Early Spanish Florida: An Historical Overview and Interpretation” will be held on Thursday, September 26, beginning at 4:00 pm at the Fort Myers campus, 4501 Colonial Boulevard.

The lecture will be conducted by Dr. Gerald Franz, a noted historical professor. Dr. Franz, a member of the Florida Historical Society, has written and directed many historical dramas for the general public, including one that earned him a letter of commendation from former president George Bush, Sr.
