Community Foundation-Hodges partnership moves nonprofit training to university

The Community Foundation of Collier County and Hodges University today announced that the Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNE), established at the Community Foundation in 1997, is moving to Hodges University this summer.

The Community Foundation has awarded a three-year grant to Hodges, totaling $150,000, to help establish the training program at the university.

“This is an exciting time for both the Community Foundation and Hodges University,” said Hodges University President Terry McMahan. “This partnership will help to increase the effectiveness of the Center, and will extend the knowledge base of nonprofits throughout the area. As part of the Nichols School of Professional Studies, the Center will be able to provide additional opportunities to better serve the nonprofit community by helping train and educate leaders who can work for the public good across many sectors.”

“We are excited about this partnership with Hodges,” said Eileen Connolly-Keesler, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Collier County.   “The Center for Nonprofit Excellence has provided training for 7,000 participants from local nonprofit organizations over the past 15 years. Under Hodges’ management, the Center will be able to expand and offer additional services to nonprofits.”

The first event of the CNE at Hodges will be a June 26 full-day seminar on nonprofit finances presented by experts from CliftonLarsonAllen LLP, a nationally known CPA firm that works with many local nonprofits. Future programs will include a local funder’s panel addressing grants that will be available in the upcoming year and the Indiana School of Philanthropy’s Fundraising School.

The Community Foundation was incorporated in 1985 by local visionaries who believed that a community foundation in Naples, like those in other cities across the country, could help charitable-minded people create legacies for the immediate and future needs of the area.

Since its founding, the Foundation has awarded $63 million in grants to Collier County nonprofits and beyond in the areas of arts, education, environment, human services, affordable housing and healthcare.
