Hodges Center for Lifelong Learning to host free lecture on olive oil

The Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning at Hodges University will host a free lecture on the ins and outs of olive oil. The lecture will be held on December 6, 2010, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Homewood Residence, 770 Goodlette Road and 7th Avenue, in the Commons in Naples.

Should olive oil be stored in the refrigerator?  What is the shelf life of olive oil and vinegar?  Participants will walk away from this program with the answers to these questions, as well as knowing how olive oil is made, what types of olives are used in olive oil production, the business of olive oil, how to read the labels to know what you are getting, and how olive oil is used in health and beauty.  This class will focus on education, not on tasting.

Conducting this fun yet informative session will be Marie Heiland.  Ms. Heiland is a self-described entrepreneur.  Formerly the owner of the Health Nut store, she currently owns the Naples Olive Oil Company. She is fondly known as “Miss Olive Oil.”

This session is free of charge but reservations are required. For more information, please contact Christine Wheeler at (239) 598-6210.
