2013 Promise Award Luncheon

The Hispanic Institute at Hodges University will host its third annual Promise Award Luncheon on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 12:00 pm. The luncheon will be held at Pelican Preserve Golf & Country Club, 10571Veneto Drive, in Fort Myers.
During the event, the Hispanic Institute will honor Gail Williams as the 2013 Promise Award recipient. Ms. Williams is the President of the Southwest Florida branch of the Florida Diversity Council. She also serves as Chief Diversity Officer at Hodges University. The Award is presented to a community group or member who exemplifies society’s most valued human characteristics and thus serves as a distinguished example of social responsibility, determination, dedication, honesty, and moral character.
"We are pleased to honor Gail Williams in recognition of her tireless efforts on behalf of diversity and inclusion in our area," said Carmen Rey-Gomez, director of the Hispanic Institute.
Ms. Williams works with various organizations, including the Council of Hispanic Business Professionals; the Lee and Collier County branches of the NAACP; and the Immokalee Chamber of Commerce. She has also chaired the annual Hodges University Diversity Festival for several years.
Guest speaker for the luncheon will be mental health counseling expert Dr. David Small discussing the subject of high risk behavior in teens in Lee and Collier Counties.
The Mission of the Hispanic Institute at Hodges University is to be recognized as a leader within Lee and Collier Counties to inform policy-makers about issues vital to the growing Hispanic community and to provide the community with information and analysis necessary for effective participation in public policy development.
