Student of the Month, August 2015
I would like to be a
licensed counselor in the state of Florida. I have interests in neuropsychology
and forensic psychology. I plan to explore all my interest areas before
deciding on one particular field to practice in.
Tell us a little about yourself and your life:
I am a mother of a three
year old little boy named Levi. I am engaged to his wonderful father David. My
life usually consists of my boys, school and work. I am the first admissions
work-study here on the Fort Myers campus. I am in my fourth semester and I have
completed a total of 60 credit hours (an associate degree) in that period of
time. I have received the dean’s list recognition every semester I have been
eligible. I am currently the vice president of the Hodges University Psychology
Club, and I am looking forward to becoming the president. Those who know me know
I am very comical and sarcastic. I am also the most loving person you will ever
meet. I am always trying to help and motivate others. I love Hodges University
very much, and I am so honored to be named student of the month. Thank you for
this opportunity and acknowledgment of my hard work over the last year.
What are your hobbies / extracurricular activities?
I really don’t have a lot of
extracurricular activities; however, I do enjoy cooking for my family. I love
experimenting with new recipes and new ingredients. I like to watch Food
Network shows such as Chopped, Diner’s Drive-in’s and Dives, and I also like to
watch Next Food Network Star. I also really enjoy watching the Investigation Discovery
channel. It feeds my forensic psychology interest. Furthermore, any free time I
have with my son is spent doing arts and crafts, playing outside, reading
books, and helping me in the kitchen.
What has been your favorite class at Hodges University?
I cannot say that one class
was my favorite thus far. I will say I do have a top three list. I loved
English Fundamentals II with Professor McCue. She not only made learning
English fun and challenging, but she showed me how exceptional I was at
writing. If there were more professors
like her the world and education system would be a better place. I am currently
in General Psychology with Professor Olivares. I do not have one bad thing to
say about the class or the professor. It has been a class I have looked forward
to every week since week one. Last but not least, my Professional
Communications class has been very exciting and fun. Professor Fortin is a
wonderful professor dedicated to each student and helping them succeed in being
great speakers. I appreciate the knowledge and skills I have obtained from each
of these professors and each of these courses.
