Following her passion for science, Dr. Megan Shoff has spent time working as a science teacher, an environmental educator and research associate. She also served as a staff fellow research microbiologist in the Laboratory of Infection Control at the United States Food and Drug Administration. There she focused on ISO, ANSI and AAMI standards, sterility reviews for medical devices, endotoxin testing and more.

Joining Hodges University as an assistant professor in 2012, she works with students who express an interest in biology, genetics, ecology, microbiology and other areas of science. In 2015, Shoff was promoted to associate professor and vice chair of the Biomedical Sciences department, as well as director of Common Core in the School of Allied Health. Wearing many hats, she has redesigned three courses and created two new courses, as well as served on a team to redesign the biomedical sciences program. She has also created a chapter of the Allied Health Honor Society, Alpha Eta.

Due to her research and work in the field of biomedical science, Shoff has received many awards and recognitions, including the VISTAKON Student Travel Fellowship (2007), FDA 2012 Center/ORA Scientific Achievement Awards, Outstanding New Reviewer, Human Capital Investment Award and the FDA Outstanding Service Award (Group)-Reprocessing of Reusable Medical Devices Working Group.

When she isn’t behind a microscope or inspiring future scientists, she enjoys traveling and being on the water.
