A self-made millionaire by the age of 26, Barron Gift Collier invested much of his personal fortune into the development of Southwest Florida. Learn about Collier County’s namesake, his life and the significant impact he had on the region. The completion of the Tamiami Trail (US 41) in 1928 brought essential services and new economic vitality to Florida’s last frontier. The Trail was an engineering marvel into the vast Everglades. Discover Barron Gift Collier’s impact on the continuation and completion of this important roadway.
